What started as a quick run into town to pick up the paper this am became a fun and unique excursion when I stumbled upon the new and welcomed Farmers Market right in downtown Montauk on St. Therese School’s grassy grounds. When I spotted the sunflowers, I parked the car and my younger daughter Nina and I headed onto the grounds to see what was fresh at the market today. Well, we wound up going from tent to tent, tasting, smelling and absorbing all of the vibrant colors of the fruits, veggies, juices and homemade accoutremonts. You can prepare for a whole meal there including an available fresh seafood collection, fixings for salads and veggie dishes, fresh pickles and fruit or brownies and sweets for dessert! Of course I bought the beautiful bouquet of sunflowers that drew me there to begin with! We had so much fun chatting with the lovely vendors. They were also very generous with sampling the fresh juices, fruit and tomatoes from the pint and quart containers. St. Therese also hosts an adorable playground which was a great bonus for Nina! If you’re kids are old enough to entertain themselves on the playground, you may be able to browse and chat on your own- delightful!
Farmers Market at St. Therese every Thursday 9-1. If you miss this opportunity, you can find other farm stands springing up around Montauk. They is also a market at Gin Beach Market on Fridays, a fruit and veggie stand on Tuthill Road (on the way to Duryea’s) every day and Rita’s stables farm stand on Fri, Sat and Sun. Many of our markets also now offer locally grown produce.

This is exactly what I have been waiting for….
