Fashion in the Sand~ Going Back Again

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

Do you remember wearing Clark’s Wallabees in grade school? There were always a few kids with them. Kind of nerdy. Then Hush Puppies came along. I think Hush Puppies are actually Wallabee knock offs. Who’da thought. Well, Clarks are back with a whole new look for women (The same oldy but goody Wallabees are still available- you can get them for your husband! Now they are considered SEXY) They are offering very sexy and VERY COMFORTABLE cork wedges with soft suede straps. So cool, so effortlessly chic. Best of all play ground appropriate!

My friend, Michele, sported a pair to school while dropping of her son. She had on a plaid mini skirt with these sandals. A whole lot of moms were looking at her feet asking about her shoes. They looked great. Perfect for Montauk. Dressed but not out of place. She showed up again at pick up that afternoon and said she had not taken them off all day, can you imagine staying in heals all day!? Very comfy. Go with everything. If you have to / want to buy a pair of sandals, buy these! Since they are sold over at Gosman’s you can bring the kids and set them up with ice cream while you get shoes. Shoes AND ice cream – does life get any better?

Fashion in the Sand – Layer It

Wednesday, August 5th, 2009

kellyb'sRemember when your mom yelled at you for wearing too little? Or for wearing something see-through? Well it still applies! No one should see your undergarments, or lack there of, in public. When you bend over all should be covered. You are NOT Paris or Brittany. You are the stylish mother that everyone wants to be. You are effortlessly pulled together. Always cool, calm and collected. I know you are now laughing and saying, “Yeah, only when my kids are drugged on Benedril.”
To always be in control of your clothes it is a good idea to layer. Especially out here in Montauk where the temperature can change as fast as your child’s moods. Kelly B. can help you!! Kelly B. is the new jewel box of a shop at 41 The Plaza, right next to Fudge and Stuff. Park the kids in the candy store and go in to the feminine pink shop. The prices are amazing so you can put together a wonderful outfit that can carry you all day into evening and then some. The best part is Kelly B. has everything so this is one stop shopping. Start with a cute dress. Then a pair of skinny jeans under the dress (or a button front front dress over the first dress). Now an over shirt for the evening. There is a fab selection of costume jewelry, chunky watches, hats, and FLAT shoes to accessorize with. All these layers can carry you right into fall when you wear them together or you can mix and match to have a whole weekend wardrobe! Shop ‘Til You Drop and when you do drop you will still look good and not expose any thing.

Fashion in the Sand- July 8, 2009

kailaniYou NEED summer wardrobe staples NOW.
How many t-shirts do you go through in a day? How much dripped ice cream can a mom wear? You should NOT be as dirty as your kids. It is cute on the little ones, a map of their meals. Not on mom.
Kai*Lani on 12 South Etna Ave is a wonderful shop to solve all your problems. South Etna is actually the south side of the circle in town. So walk around the south side and drop the kids off at the candy shop, Fudge n’ Stuff with dad, walk past the hotels and steal a few moments of retail bliss. You have at least 20 minutes to shop while they get sugared up.
Kai*Lani has the softest like butter cotton tees and tunics for the BEST prices! Also real indian kurtas(tunics) perfect to cover a bathing suit and then tie around your shoulders for an evening cover. Great cute shorts, bathing suits, bags, jewelry…EVERYTHING you need to look stylish, put together, and most of all comfortable.

peri's1Welcome to Kid Montauk’s Fashion Blog, “Fashion In the Sand”.  I am very excited to do this since Montauk is slowly but surely becoming a great place to shop for the whole family. There are quite a few new shops in town this season and I will visit every one! Well, I already have. I have noticed that the price point in Montauk is much more affordable than some of the other Hamptons. Each week I will high light an outfit for about $100 for mom or Dad and some weeks for kids at about $50.
